George Russell (Mercedes) set the pace in Practice 1 at the Spanish Grand Prix, with a best lap of 1:34.077, 0.286s quicker than Andrea Kimi Antonelli. Charles Leclerc was third, 0.459s off the top.

Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull Racing filled the top of the order, with the top 10 covered by 1.462s and seven drivers within a second of the fastest time.

Nine of the top 10 set their best laps on the soft tyre; Hamilton (medium) did not, which may flatter the drivers ahead of them.

Carlos Sainz completed the most laps, 30.

Practice times don't always tell the full story: teams run different fuel loads and programmes, and the order often changes once qualifying runs begin.
